Opening words

Welcome to the Amiga Virus Encyclopedia.

This project is rather new and started December 2007 - So for the moment you won't find that much descriptions to call this wiki a real encyclopedia. But it will grow!

What is this all about?

This site is dedicated to analysis and descriptions of viruses for the Commodore Amiga computer. Therefore you will find detailed information of Amiga viruses. This site is for anyone who is interested in Amiga computer viruses or once was afflicted by one of these nasty little programs and finally want to know detailed information about them. So on the one hand you can call this a site about nostalgic viruses and on the other hand side a comprehensive guide to Amiga viruses. I will update this site whenever I have some spare time so this site will grow from time to time. I would make me happy if you check this site from time to time…. I have many of these malicious bits and bytes here in my collection waiting for analysis :-)

Why do you do this?

There are many good descriptions of Amiga viruses out there, unfortunately they altogether lack in one thing: detail. I try to describe every virus as detailed as possible also showing and documenting graphical output of viruses using pictures.

In fact I did not want to do a public documentation, it should be for me personally. But well, maybe someone is interested in Amiga viruses, too.

So why do I do this: For me personally. It's just fun to analyze viruses in MC68000 assembler code again for my good old Amiga… far way from Java, C#, SQL, J2EE, JSP and all the other stuff I have to deal with in my job. It's just fun.

About me

On the Commodore Amiga I was working for a big non-profit organisation which helped users who were afflicted by computer viruses. Now, many years after my membership of this organisation I thought it is time for a detailed guide to Amiga viruses.

How to read the pages

All pages will have the following sections

  • Introduction
    • This is an introduction to the virus
  • Summary
    • A summary of the virus analysis
  • Details
    • Details of the virus or things which are special about the virus
  • Clones and variants
    • A list of known clones and variants of the virus

I will sometimes refer to VTDok which is an excellent guide concerning Amiga viruses written by Mr. Heiner Schneegold, the author of VT-Schutz, a very famous and reliable (german) anti-virus program on the Commodore Amiga.

You can get VTDok from Aminet, please follow this link.
